There are various websites you can use to do this, including Experian and Clear Score who offer a 30-day trial. Plevin gets its name from Susan Plevin who took legal action against Paragon Personal Finance Ltd after she had PPI added to a loan. Susan successfully demonstrated that the company had failed to disclose their commission and as such, the contract was deemed to be unfair. In 2014, the case was heard by the Supreme Court who ruled in favour of Mrs Plevin.
An unfair or irresponsible contractual relationship is when we can demonstrate that a lender mis-sold a financial product for personal gain. This is normally related to financial products such as mortgages or loads where added costs were not fully disclosed to the customer. If a customer has taken out a loan in the past, and the lender has not disclosed the amount of “hidden” commission they received, it’s likely to be accepted as an unfair contractual relationship.
